MFA is the Leading Network for Heavy Metal FansMetallers Meet on 1980s Music Forum to Socialise and Share Rock InfoBig Robbo's Mama's Fallen Angels has over 21,000 members and new debates on heavy metal music emerge every day. Users say they love MFA for its warm and relaxed attitude
Heavy Metal was massive in the 1980s, with the New Wave of British Heavy Metal kicking the decade off with the emergence of bands like Iron Maiden, Saxon, Def Leppard and Girlschool. This was matched mid-decade across the Atlantic with the two-pronged audio assault from LA trash metallers like Motley Crue and Guns N' Roses and thrash metal bands such as Metallica and Anthrax. It wasn't all new of course, because rock bands such as AC/DC, Aerosmith, Kiss, Van Halen, Motorhead and Black Sabbath/Ozzy also kept churning out great heavy metal albums in the decade long rocking renaissance. The Mama's Fallen Angel (MFA) website provides the ideal website to relive those halcyon days with fellow fans. Origins of 1980s Heavy Metal's Biggest Social NetworkIn an email interview, Big Robbo, the site administrator, wrote that he started the site with a few blogs about his favourite heavy metal music. Three of his friends joined in, and it was just the four of them for the first few months of the site. That's how it stayed until they went to Oklahoma's Rocklahoma festival with flyers in hand. They braved the portaloos for their dream, and at the end of the festival they'd persuaded about ten metallers to join. The next thing there were over 20,000! A Meeting Place for Heavy Metal FansRobbo wrote that his ambition for the site is to continue helping members to socialise; he gets a buzz out of it, and cites seeing photos of an MFA inspired meeting at this year's Download festival as particularly powerful: "That's from a site that was started in the middle of the United States (literally) reaching across the pond to connect folks in England. That's good stuff Marc, and that's what I enjoy the most." This philosophy certainly seems to filter through to members. Tiffani Willis enthused: 'I love MFA. You get to meet really interesting people and the people you meet on here can develop into long lasting friendships.' This sentiment was echoed by 'Rock and Roll Over', 'MissezSlashHudson', 'Izzy Stradlin 117*-bipolar brit', Jeffrey, Lucero, Elisabetha, Tracy and Zulian; they all wrote warmly about the camaraderie on site and the great attitudes of the lunatic admins that run the show. The Most Popular Fan GroupsThere are 1475 fan groups on MFA specialising in specific bands where members can watch videos, chat with other members from around the world and upload and view photographs.
